Regular attendance at nursery is important however if your child is unable to attend nursery please phone the school absence line on 0131 332 1604 or you can e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org If you don’t contact us, we will contact you as we have a duty of care to children enrolled in nursery.
A morning and afternoon snack is provided everyday. Children participate in making the snack and are responsible for clearing the table and doing the dishes.
Children are given a free lunch daily. All lunches are vegetarian and are provided by Edinburgh Catering Services. Children receive a hot lunch Monday – Thursday and a packed lunch to take home on a Friday. Here is a copy of the lunch menu.
health & wellbeing
Please inform the nursery staff if your child has any health concerns, allergies or medical issues.
We work and play in a close environment. Please do not send your child to nursery if they are unwell. Also, if your child has had diarrhoea or vomiting please do not return to nursery until 48 hours after the last bout of sickness.
Your child must be collected by a responsible known adult, aged 16 or over. If someone different is collecting or dropping off your child, please inform a member of the staff. We would be grateful if you could collect your child on time. It can be upsetting if your child is left behind after others have gone home.
Active learning and purposeful play activities are central to our nursery curriculum.
As well as outdoor play your child will have opportunities to paint, play in sand and water, and bake. Some of these activities can be messy so please do not send your child to nursery in their best clothes!
personal learning journals – ejournals
Throughout the year staff and children work together to record experiences, learning goals and achievements.
Each child has an ejournal. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to share his or her work with you and for you to share in their success.
If you need help accessing the ejournal please see a member of the Early Years team.
We welcome feedback from parents. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Eleanor Dickson, Depute Head or Sharon McGhee, Head Teacher on 0131 332 1604.
If you feel your concerns are unresolved you can make a complaint to The Care Inspectorate, Stuart House, Eskmills, Musselburgh, EH21 7PB.
